I Had a Ball in "Big L"
My Name is Flo Ann Abbott Myers. I and my five brothers and sisters were raised in Lompoc (from the early 60's to early 70's). I now live in Lawrenceville, Georgia, just outside of Atlanta. After working at Bank of America, here in Atlanta, for 10 years, I have discovered that I work with a lady who lived in Lompoc at the same time, attending the same elementary and junior high schools I did, only a couple of years ahead of me. We had such fun reminiscing about "Don't Cook Tonight, Call Chicken Delight"; and lots of other fun "Lompoc" facts.

I am now, desperately searching for a recording of the song "I had a Ball in Big L" to surprise Kathy, yet again. Please let me know if you have any idea how I can obtain this recording.

Thanks so much for the "nifty" newsletter and info on "my home town".

Regards,
Flo Ann Myers

"Big L" Remembered...
A blast from the past! "I Had a Ball in Big L" was recorded in the early 1960's by KNEZ Radio. A professional commercial producer wrote and recorded it, and it was played non-stop (or it seemed like it!) on the radio. It was so popular that KNEZ began selling 45 rpm copies for a buck (remember 45's with the big hole in the center?). Of course, everyone bought it and the records quickly sold out. I still have my copy somewhere. But, I've never seen or heard of anyone else who kept theirs! I really need to search for my copy and figure out how to dub it to a medium that's in use today. I doubt many people still have phonographs!

Let's Get Creative
Could you please tell me how Lompoc is pronounced? I am a native Californian and so is my friend, but we have two different ways of pronouncing it. If you could respond with a creative way to let us know, I would sooo appreciate it.

Thank you
Sallee from Oceanside, CA

EDITOR'S NOTE: Well, I don;t know about a "creative" way to pronounce Lompoc, but here's the correct way: LOM (rhymes with Tom) -- POKE (rhymes with Smoke). The emphasis is on the first syllable, LOM. I hope this helps!

Who Videotaped Prom in '86?
Does anyone remember the name of the production company that videotaped the LHS prom in ’86? We have been trying to locate a copy of this video with no luck. If anyone can help out we would appreciate it. We are trying to put together a remembrance album for our children so they have something to share with their children when they are older. Thanks.

Cordially,
Tammy & Brian Chevalier
