New on Lompoc Online! Chumash Exhibits
Can you suggest how I might be able to get in touch with someone involved in the Chumash exhibits at the historical center?

Thanks.

New on Lompoc Online! Lompoc Retirement
EDITOR'S NOTE: A while ago one of our website visitors asked for opinions on how Lompoc fared for retirement. Following is an answer from" Midnightleo2@aol.com".

Lompoc has everything you could want. Great entertainment, culture, shopping, very low crime and the greatest weather. Also very economic if you compare Lompoc to other places in the state.

New on Lompoc Online! Returning to Ocean Beach
About ten years ago I took a driving trip up PCH from Huntington beach to Santa Cruz or in that area. On the way we saw surf on the map and detoured off PCH to the beach. It was a beautiful beach with cliffs in the background and some of the largest waves i've ever seen. Even though I vaguely remember no swimming signs, no lifeguard signs and such, I remember there were people strolling the beach. Now I would like to bring my girlfriend, who has never seen the sunset over the ocean (we live in Las Vegas), back to this beach to propose at sunset. I'm just trying to find out if this beach is still open to the public for strolling on. I remember that it was about 5 miles west of lompoc, but is there parking? or any rules associated with this beach that I should know before booking a trip?

Sincerely,
Mike Harris

New on Lompoc Online! DSL Internet in Lompoc
Hello, Lompoc –
I had posted a question about DSL or cable internet service in Lompoc. I’ve had a few emails over the past months asking if I’d found answers. I thought I should post what I can remember of our solution. There is no cable internet service (at least for the part of Lompoc where my parents live). I found two DSL providers: my parents local phone service company (Verizon, I believe) and Earthlink. Earthlink has a good reputation, but there would have been a two-week delay in getting service. I believe they would have had to work with Verizon. We were in a hurry and went with Verizon. I’ve heard no complaints.

Missile Defense & Lompoc's Economy
EDITORS NOTE: Food for thought -- With the new missile defense program being implemented at Vandenberg, can we expect a sizeable influx of military and civilian personnel at the base? And when will the effect of the buildup start to affect the local economy?

Tranquillion Peak
Al Caroline writes,
I was surfing the web today and searched tranq peak. I read that people can
enter and actually go up there these days. I hope this is true. I was turned
away by an AP at the gate the last time I tried to re visit the site.

I remember well my days and nights on tranq peak operating and maintaining tracking radar. 1960 to 1965. Lived out in Sunkissed (or kist) Plaza, maybe that's wrong too. Anyway North Y street. Bought a 4 bedroom home there in 1962 for $12,500. email me at hallan@coqui.net.

thanx
