New on Lompoc Online! Tri-Tip Recipes, What Cut of Meat?
Judy writes,
"Hi Lompoc People, Does anyone in Lompoc know about the roast called try-tip? I lived in Lompoc in 1993, every Sunday we had try-tip for our Sunday meal. We always barbecued it. We moved to Windsor, Ontario Canada. I need to know what cut the meat is from. At my grocery store no one has ever heard of try-tip.
Thank you
Judy"

EDITORS NOTE: We ought to get lots of reponses to this question, Judy, since tri-tip barbecuing is a favorite pastime here. Meanwhile, here are some websites to get you started:

Original Mission Site Question
Randy Pickard writes,
"I would like to know why the original site of the Lompoc Mission (La Purisima Mission), before the earthquake, is not more of a publicized or celebrated landmark."

EDITORS NOTE:Thanks to Dennis Headrick, President of the Lompoc Valley Historical Society, for answering Randy's question. Dennis writes, "You're right, it's not highly publicized and it may be because of the following: There isn't a lot visible above ground at the original site except for a small portion of the chapel entry arch. Much of the remainder was buried by mudslides in the 1812 earthquake..."

Internet Cable Provider Question
Carol Paterson writes,
"My parents live in Lompoc and currently have dial-up internet access. I am looking for high-speed access for them. It looks like Verizon and Earthlink offer DSL. Do you know if anyone else does? Are there any internet cable providers?
Thanks so much for your help."
Regards,
Carol Paterson

New on Lompoc Online! Just What Is
Lompoc Online?

Established in September 1998, Lompoc Online is a privately owned and operated, interactive website, which attempts to reflect the attitudes and flavor of Lompoc's online community. We regularly receive over 24,000 page views per month and our audience continues to grow.

Some folks seem to think we are associated with the town's local newpaper, the Lompoc Record, but that is not the case. We're just a lighthearted place for Lompocans and former Lompocans to spend some time online.

We hope that you'll continue to join us here "Where All Things Lompoc Are Welcome!"

Lompoc Online's Mission:
To promote the city of Lompoc on the Internet by providing a fun, folksy interactive gathering spot.
