Local Camping Options...
The following email typifies the requests we receive for camping information:
Hi!
Is there anywhere (around Lompoc) I can set up my tent and camp for a couple of days? I don't need fancy or
anything, just a place to sleep and washup.
Perhaps out towards Ocean?
I'd prefer NOT to go to one of the State places like Refugio or Nahoqi.
Too far away and too crowded.
I'm looking for someplace close with access to Surf and the area towards
Pine Canyon.
Thanks! Blaine
Can you suggest a good local camping option? Or tell us about your camping experiences? If so, tell us! We'll post your comments so Blaine and others can benefit from your experience.

Lompoc's New Look
Go to the official City of Lompoc Website to see the brand new Lompoc,
California, "City of Arts and Flowers", logo and label pin,
designed by valley resident, Thomas R. McDonald.
In this, his first article, Griffin discusses one of his favorite places, La Purisima Mission, where he visited recently with blacksmith-in-training, David Wittrock.
An Email to Griffin:
Dear Griffin,
I enjoyed your article on La Purisima. I didn't realize the mission was
so dog friendly. I recently visited Lompoc for a high school reunion and
didn't know where to takes my two canine companions for walks or to toss a
ball around. We snuck onto the playground at Hapgood Elementary for some off-
leash chase-the-tennis-ball fun, but I am sure that is against some kind of
law.
Are there any official or unofficial off-leash areas you can recommend?
Or good places for a long walk besides the mission?
Thanks for your help.
