Many months ago someone asked about where are a good place to dine out in Lompoc.
Lompoc is very fortunate to have world-renowned as well as nationally known restaurants.
We have Jack-in-the-Box, McDonald's, Carl's Jr., Carrows, IHOP, Sizzler, Taco Bell, and more.
Sadly one of the better upscale local restaurants serving top quality steaks and seafood and adjacent serving fine Mexican Food recently closed. It is
rumored another eating facility will be opening there soon. It is not as upscale and pricey but nice. A women’s favorite place to eat I am told. There are
still many fine dining places in Lompoc. Lompoc can offer Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Mexican, Thai, and more. There is Santa Maria style barbeque,
fish, pizza, waffles, hamburgers and more.
There are many other renowned restaurants in nearby towns that are very popular with the locals and the tourists alike. A short drive you will find fine
steaks in Guadalupe, Casmalia and Los Alamos to the north. Fine steaks in Buellton and Solvang to the South. Solvang is noted for it's Danish
community and Danish food. Santa Barbara is great if you want a night out like in the big cities. There are also excellent dining facilities at the Harbor
overlooking the boats and the Wharf. You can get a similar view from the wharf while dining or just on a stroll.
I hesitate to recommend any restaurant but I can name where I like to go. Oki Sushi for Japanese, Mandarin Bowl for Chinese, Mi Amore or Saletti's for
Italian, Costa Brava Mariscos for Mexican, Tom's for hamburgers and fries, Giant Manhattan Pizza for pizza and calzone. Then I must name the fast
food places that I enjoy. Jack-in-the-box for hamburgers, Wendy's for a frosty, Taco Bell for tacos, Fosters for banana splits, Kentucky Fried Chicken
for chicken, and whoever is offering discount coupons this week! Ask anyone on the street they will give you as many different answers as the
number of people that you ask. I will bet you a soda that Tom's gets named more than once. The Chamber of Commerce is a good place to ask but
don't you think they enumerate their favorite places too? You can always connect with Lompoc Online and ask Bonny as well.
Bonny adds her two cents worth: Right now I'm kind of stuck on the
Waffle House. It's bright and cheery with excellent, friendly service and delicious fresh-squeezed juice from the owner's own oranges. And I do like Tom's a lot for the burgers, for sure.
Lots of people like Cafe San Martin for Mexican. Whenever I go there I get the Number One.
Taco Loco is good for fast Mexican.

Our Lompoc Answerman, Don Pond is a long time resident of Lompoc. He used to build houses, is now retired, and likes to build websites.
"The satisfaction is much the same. You start with a bare piece of ground or paper, layout and build, make changes as you go. With a house you remodel 'till you sell, and then let someone else do the remodeling."
So far Don says he has not been able to dispose of any websites. When Don thinks a website is completely finished, just like a house, he gets called upon to go back and "remodel." He thinks that building websites is much like being married, "a life's commitment, with no chance of a divorce or separation."
