MORE You Know You're a Lompoc Native When...

...you remember the day it began to rain after a five year dry spell... and it didn't stop for a month!

...when you can't find a chile relleno anywhere else in the country that's as good as the original El Zarape.

...you remember the miniature golf course at the drive in, and scary midnight movies on Halloween night.

Forever, a Lompoc native, thank you
for this sight.

...you can remember when the telephone prefix was RE for "Regent." And you didn't have to dial it -- you only dialed the last 5 numbers for local calls. That all changed about 1984 when you had to dial 736-xxxx.

Transplanted Lompocan from Pensacola, Florida

...you were ever a V-8, a KedKid or a Grange Sprout, and took batting practice in one of those dorky ear-muff helmets.

...you can remember when going to McDonalds meant Fresno, Ventura, and then finally Santa Maria.

...you can remember when the Braves FINALLY beat Cabrillo and you could hold your head up. (41-21)

...you remember "catching air" in your brother's '68 El Camino when you hit the wicked dip on Central Avenue! OOOYEAH!!

...you recall your parents filling up at Mr. Elsey's station on West Ocean, and being mesmerized by the dancing balls on the side of the pump.

...you remember attending Maple School on Floradale Avenue before we were all bused into town (and have the photos to prove it!) I went there for one week in first grade, then they shipped us over to Hapgood Elementary in 1961!

...your kids recognize many things on this list because they're still there!!! (And if they aren't still there, theyve heard the stories!)

...you know the difference between Pinto, Pinquito, Garbanzo and Lima beans!
