MORE You Know You're a Lompoc Native When...

...you remember a blimp tied down at the "old" Lompoc airport.

...you remember the job descriptions of Henning, Henderson, Carthcart and Shields.

...you remember JM parties at the La Mesa Theatre.

...you remember when Moore's sold and delivered groceries.

...you remember the Dixie Court.

...you remember rodeos at the Rodeo Grounds (now Crestview Terrace).

...you remember The Lucky Spot, which was a very scary bar right next to the Schroeder Bros. dime store on W. Ocean.

My dad, himself a native, and the fathers of just about everyone I knew back in the 50s, put the place off limits so emphatically that even walking by the front door was intimidating.

...you remember the Community Center as a USO, later to become Lompoc City Hall.

...you remember riding your bike to the Lompoc Theater and trying to sneak in through the side door in the alley.

...you remember playing in the youth football "Turkey Bowl" at Huyck Stadium.

...you remember listening to the Babe Ruth All-Star games on the radio as they went throught the playoffs, and meeting them at Gus's Restaurant as they came back to town.

...you remember yourself or your friends sneaking into the Drive-In Theater in the trunk of a car.
