Owl Cafe (where Jasper's is today).
...you remember going to the old library on South "H"
because that was what it was then.
...you remember the "J-M Kids" Christmas Party held
every year at Christmas time in the old Lompoc Theatre.
...you remember the Flower Festival parade route that went
straight up "H" Street and ended at the Veterans
Memorial Building.
...you remember many happy hours playing and exploring the
old crevasse with no houses or fences in sight.
...how many of you remember "China Creek?" Do you
know where I am referring to? A hint: The best place in town
to catch polliwogs and frogs as a child :o)
...you remember as a child how excited all the local fishermen
got when the Steelhead made their annual runs up the Santa
Ynez River and hearing them say it was the best Steelhead
fishing river in the United States.
...you remember watching your Dad and his friend Harry Paaske
using heavy equipment from JM to open up the mouth of the
Santa Ynez river so the waiting steelhead could work their
way up to their ancestral spawning grounds.
...you remember a free flowing river teaming with wildlife
in the water and along it's banks before there was a Cachuma
Dam.
