...you know all of Lompoc's nicknames - Lompton, LPC, The Poke

...you've worked in a food booth at the Flower Festival at least once.

... you correct everyone who mispronounces Lompoc.

...you must know where ALL the murals are in town.

...you laugh out loud when you hear people not from here say, 'Well, I have been through there once...' (We’re off the beaten path, so you don't just go THROUGH it!)

...going out of town means going to Santa Maria which is 30 miles away.

... you can point out exactly when Kmart came in and when it left due to WalMart coming in years later.

... you learned how to drive a stick shift on the farm roads.

...you joke about the 4th of July fireworks not being seen through the fog.

...you will see at least ONE person, or more, that you know when you go to WalMart.

...most everyone that has moved away ends up back here (even if just for a short, interim period.)

...you move away and come back and exclaim, "My how this town has grown!"

...going across town takes five minutes or less.

...you laugh at those who live in Santa Barbara and pay high rent when they can have the same weather as us!

...you freak out when Lompoc is mentioned in a movie and then get annoyed because it is ALWAYS mispronounced!

...you celebrate when the wind isn't up and you can have a picnic without weighing everything down with rocks.

...you know what a Snowy Plover is!

MORE You Know You're a Lompoc Native When...

...you know that North Avenue runs east and west!

...you know why there is no College on College Avenue and no Airport on Airport Ave.

...a traffic jam is 3 cars at a stop light.

...you can remember that there was nothing but vacant land past "Ted's Drive In" on the outskirts of town (Ted's was about where McDonald's is today!)

...you remember that, at Christmas time, the lighted cross at the end of South H Street was turned off and replaced by a Christmas star.

...you pronounce Refugio Beach as Refoofio Beach!

...you can remember when the Lompoc Record was printed once a week.

Expanding on Bari Graves' entry about Earl Calvert and the Lompoc Theatre:

...you remember Earl Calvert stopping the movie and taking the stage to deliver a warning if you didn't behave during the show.

...as a kid, each time you went into Hall's Bakery, you got a free sugar cookie.

...you remember telephone service BEFORE the "Regent" prefix was established! Some numbers were only 4 digits long. Most of the time you were on a party line and had to wait for the old lady down the street to finish her phone call before you could dial.

...you can remember when, 40 years ago there not only was no traffic signal at "H" and Ocean, but there was not
even a stop sign!

People used to crane their necks out of their car windows and ask, "Who has the right of way?"
